barelliBareilly:  In a dreadful case, a woman police officer was hauled on the road by her assistant in a vehicle after her raise objections to extortion by them in the name of traffic inspection.

Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Kalpana Saxena, who is in hospital with a fractured hand and some injuries on her head, said that she had received information from an Army jawan last evening that some of the traffic constables were demanding bribes from the truck drivers near the Jat regimental centre.

“I hurried to the area with the gunner and driver in a private car to catch them red handed. When I reached the area, I saw them taking bribes from the constables. The constables recognized me and tried to flee and crush me under their police vehicle,” the 1990 batch officer of the state’s Provincial Police Service said.

“I wedged the driver’s neck and he ragged me for more than a kilometer in full public view. Finally, they threw me on the road,” Saxena said.

Police said one of the alleged has been arrested and hunt is on to nab the two others.

DIG N K Srivastav said all the 3 constables are suspended and FIR has been filed at the Cantt police station in this context.

“One of the alleged Manoj Kumar had been arrested and efforts were being made to nab two others,” he said. As been arrested and hunt is on to nab the two others.

They said that last evening Saxena got info that some constables were extorting money from the truck drivers after which she reached the spot with her driver and gunner.

After reaching the spot, when Saxena questioned the 3 constables present on the spot, they declined any extortion bid on which the officer asked her staff to check their pockets.

Feeling trouble, the 3 constables assaulted Saxena and later made an effort to escape.

While they were escaping, Saxena caught hold of the collar of one the constables, but instead of stopping the vehicle, the policemen sped away comatose the officer.

DIG N K Srivastav said all the three constables have been suspended and FIR has been filed at the Cantt police station in this context.
