London: Six time Wimbledon champion Roger Federer was eliminated from Wimbledon. Frenchman Jo-Wilfried-Tsonga stunned Wimbledon by fighting back from two set down to dump Roger Federer out.
The swizz superstar, 29 had never previously let such a lead slip in a grand slam match. After starting the game like an express train, not many would have predicted Federer’s 6-3 7-6 4-6 4-6 4-6 exit.
The Frenchman served much better in the second but too many unforced error in the tie-breaker lead to score line in Federer’s favor in first set. But Tsonga, whose career has been blighted by a series of injuries, broke for the first time to lead 2-1 in the third set with a searing forehead down the line.
In the next round Tsonga will face second seeded Novak Djokovic, who defeated 18- year old Australian qualifier Bernard Tomic 6-2 3-6 6-3 7-5.
