The International Cricket Council (ICC) has declared that T20 team and player rankings official launch ceremony will be held at Dubai on Monday, October 24.  The first set of the rankings are being released ahead of the India-England T20 which will be played in Kolkata on October 27.

T20 : ICC to launch Twenty20 International team and player rankings

ICC General Manager David Richardson, creator of team rankings David Kendix and some key members of Pakistan and Sri Lanka cricket will conduct a media briefing after the conclusion of the ceremony.

The ICC has a policy that the three formats are given equal importance and attention and at the moment we have team and player rankings in place for both Tests and ODIs but not for T20 Internationals. This launch is an important thing for the T20 format.

The ICC also declared that in the lead-up to next year’s ICC World Twenty20 2012 in Sri Lanka, at least 12 T20Is featuring the full members will be played. In addition to these, some of the matches in next year’s ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier 2012, which will be staged in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from 14-25 March, will also have T20I status.
