Ace Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal is just a step away from realising her goal of becoming the world’s numero uno player as she jumped one place to a career-best second in the latest international rankings.
It comes after a hat-trick of titles for Nehwal who recently won the Indian Open Grand Prix, Singapore Open Super Series and Indonesian Open Super Series.Indian badminton ace Saina Nehwal has risen to No 2 in the world rankings, according to the lastest list, and is placed just behind current World No 1 Yihan Wang of China. Just a few days after her remarkable triumph at the Indonesian Open, Saina climbed to a career-best third rank.
Her rise follows back-to-back title triumphs at the Indonesian Open Grand Prix, Singapore Open Super Series and Indian Open.
Before this the 20-year-old was ranked No 5, which she attained in March after becoming the first Indian woman to reach the semi-finals of the prestigious All England Super Series.
In the men’s ranking, the Indian trio of Chetan Anand, P Kashyap and Arvind Bhatt were placed at 15th, 25th and 27th spots respectively, while mixed doubles pair of Jwala Gutta and V Diju were static at the seventh place. And after the Indian defended her Indonesian Open Super Series crown to complete her hat-trick of titles, it was just a matter of time that she jumped to the second place.
Saina’s next engagement will be in the World badminton Championship in Paris next month, before playing the Commonwealth Games and Asian Games.
This comes as a morale-booster as she prepares for the World Badminton Championships in Paris next month to be followed by the Commmonwealth Games and Asian Games.
India Scanner congrates Sania for her success & wish her for rise in World No. 1.

Today I have searched for Sania’s match timing and failed again.
It would be great if we can be aware of the match timing and the tv chanel covering the game. I have tried couple of time searching the net, for the hockey and Badminton matches which India is good at but failed. Except cricket no newspaper or TV chanel or enews covers this. It will be appreciable if we can look into this issue which can invoke interest among other sports.
