Sania Mirza & Mahesh Bhupati Win French Open Mixed Double Title



Indian Tennis Ace Player Sania Mirza & Mahesh Bhupati won the French Open Mixed Double Title yesterday. Mirza & Bhupati won this title by defeating Klaudi Jans-Ignacik and Santiago Gonzalez 7-6, 6-1. This was the second time that Sania & Mahesh won this Open Mixed Double Title. Mirza and Bhupati also won the 2009 Australian Open Mixed Doubles Title.

Yesterday was the day of double celebration for Bhupati as he won this title on his 38th Birthday. Yes,,, Indian Tennis Ace Player Mahesh Bhupati celebrates his 38th birthday yesterday. In 2001, Mahesh was awarded the Padam Shri,, one of India’s highest civilian awards.


Bhupathi, who is married to Indian actress and former Miss Universe Lara Dutta, dedicated this victory & trophy to his 4-month-old daughter Saira, his first child.

“This one’s for her and I’m really happy,” he said, after winning his eighth mixed doubles majors crown — he has now won each mixed title twice.

Mirza said after their victory which was broadcast live in India, where the pair, playing as seventh seeds, are national sporting heroes, “Now I don’t have to think of a gift to give him”

It was the third time that Mirza and Bhupathi had reached a Grand Slam final together. They won the 2009 Australian Open after being runners-up at the same tournament in 2008.

Gonzalez and Jans-Ignacik had prevented the final becoming a virtually all-Indian affair when they defeated Leander Paes and his Russian partner Elena Vesnina in the semi-finals.
