Sarabjit Singh, who convicted for his alleged involvement in 1990 sequential bomb blasts in Lahore and Faisalabad, has found a supporter in Bollywood star Salman Khan. Salman has urged the public of Pakistan to assist him to free Sarabjit.
Bollywood star Salman Khan tweeted, “Requesting the public of pakistan to support me to assist free surabjeet who has been in jail since 22 yrs . Please . Allah ka vasta. ask for the to the awam of pakistan, member’s of the press, govt of pakistan, president zardari, a humble request. It would be the most amazing gesture, to send surabjeet back to his family after 30 years. Hope u support me like its your own cause.”
Salman too expressed his grief for Sarabjit’s relatives. He tweeted, “B a part of 1 family’s happiness. Wanted to tweet this for the longest time, saw a pic of surabjeets sister, it killed me. Felt real sad for her. Help me help her. Its a individual appeal to all of u in pakistan to send sarabjeet bak to his family in punjab, expect u discover it in your hearts to assist.”
Sarabjit Singh is currently imprisoned in solitary confinement in Pakistan. On August 28, 1990 Sarabjit was arrested near his village on the Indo-Pakistani border near Kasur by Pakistani border guards. He claims that he is a planter and victim of wrong identity, who strayed into Pakistan from his village situated on the border, three months following the bomb blast.
