Considering the London Olympics the Sports Authority Of India (SAI) on Wednesday prepared the list of athletes keeping in view their ‘Olympic hopeful’ plan.According to the list the necessary objects will be provided to the participants like proper traninig program,coaching and financial help which will help the athletes to give their best on the final event.
Sports Authority Of India (SAI) has prepared the list of 42 players who will be provided with additional support apart from government’s OPEX 2012 scheme.The list also included those players who had already qualified for the Olympics and those who have a chance to qualify for the event.
The Sports ministry Has given its approval to the ‘Olympic hopeful’ plan which includes some top players like the gold medalist of Beijing Olympics Abhinav Bindra,Bronze medal winner Vejendar Singh ,Sushil Kumar,Leander Paes,Somdev Dewarman and Saina Nehwal.
The main Director of SAI Deepak Verma said that in the meeting of 6 and 10 February they had selected 16 Olympics sports and they decided to provide every necessary comforts to Indian players within a special programs.
Athletes within the program of ‘Hopeful scheme’-
Wrestling- Sushil Kumar,Yogeshwar Dutt,Rahul Aware,Neersigh Yadav,Mausam Katri and Geeta Kumari.
Tennis- Leander Paes,Mahesh Bhupatti,Sania Mirza,Somdev Dewbarman and Rohan Bhopanna.
Rowing- Bajrang Lal Takhad.
Badminton- Saina Nehwal,Jwala Gatta and Ashvimi Ponnapa.
Lifting- Sonia Chanu.
Wrestling- Manoj Kumar,Devendra Singh,Jai Bhagwaan,Vikas Krushna,Vijendar,Dinesh Kumar,M.C. Marykom and Neetu Chahal.
Shooting- Gagan Narang,Abhinav Bindra,Ronjan Sodi,Vijay Kumar,Sanjeev Rajput,Anuraj Singh,Maneshwar Singh.
Athletics- Vikas Gowda,Mukha Chowdhary,Tintu Luka and Krushna Punia.
Archery- L Bonbalya Devi,Dipika Kumari,and Jyant Talukdar.
