Roger Federer reached the Quarterfinals of the U.S Open by defeating the 36th-ranked Juan Monaco by 6-1, 6-2, 6-0. This is the 30th consecutive Grand Slam quarter final for Roger Federer. The match started very late because the earlier match lasted 3 hours, 2 minutes.
Federer started very well from the start and get 20 of the first 25 points and that also in 12 minutes. The match was lasted in just 82 minutes.
“I’m very happy with the way I played,”
the 30-year-old Federer said.
“I think you have to be ready. It is a very late start. I’m happy that so many people stayed. It’s nice.”
he added.
The world number 3 has world record of winning 16 major championships. In the next level that is Quarter finals,Federer will hve to face 11th-seeded Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France.
Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France eliminated the No. 8 Mardy Fish of the United States on Monday to make place in the Quarter finals.
“Roger was playing unbelievable. I didn’t have time to play. The ball was coming very fast. He was serving unbelievable.”
Monaco told reporters.
