Tamil Superstar Rajinikanth is celebrating his 62nd birthday. Rajinikanth was born on 12 December 1950 as Shivaji Rao Gaikwad. Rajinikanth is an Indian film actor, media personality, and cultural icon.

Rajinikanth made his debut as an actor in the National Film Award–winning motion picture Apoorva Raagangal (1975), directed by K. Balachander. Rajinikanth has worked in over 150 films across various film industries of India.

Rajinikanth has won a Filmfare Best Tamil Actor Award and six Tamil Nadu State Film Awards—four Best Actor Awards and two Special Awards for Best Actor. In the year 2000, he was bestowed the Padma Bhushan, India’s third highest civilian honour, for his contribution to Indian cinema.

Rajinikanth does everything in style and his birthday plan is supposedly grander than it may seem. Famous for his style statements, Rajini’s fans want to celebrate December 12 as World Style Day. It all started when a month ago, a fan proposed this idea on the wall of a Rajinikanth fan page on Facebook. “We should celebrate Thalaivar’s birthday as World Style Day,” said the post.
