Shah Rukh Khan’s Ra.One has failed to break Salman’s Bodyguard Opening day record. Ra.one collected Rs 18.5crore on its first day while Salman Khan’s Bodyguard created a record first-day collection of more than Rs 21crore and picked up Rs 19.3crore on Day Two. Ra.One was released nationwide on Wednesday across 3,200 screens and every multiplex had about 18 shows a day.
Delhi-UP distributor Sanjay Ghai of Mukta Arts says “Ra.One will collect between Rs 90crore and Rs 100crore”. He also said”I am not sure if Ra.One will beat Bodyguard’s first-day collections, but it will break Bodyguard’s record in five days.
Bollywood Trade analyst Taran Adarsh said, “The Hindi version will collect more than Rs 20 crore, and if one adds the collections of the Tamil and Telugu versions, it will go up to Rs 22 crore,”.
Salman Khan’s Bodyguard had opened in 2,800 screens across India and the first-day occupancy ranged between 85 per cent and 100 per cent, Ra.One opened in around 3200 screens with the first day occupancy ranging between 75 per cent and 80 per cent. Even before the film reached the theatres, its makers earned money by selling its satellite rights reportedly for Rs 35 crore and the distribution rights for Rs 77 crore.
