Peepli Live is an upcoming Bollywood film which is produced by Aamir Khan. Directed and written by Anusha Rizvi in her first directorial venture, the film stars Naya Theatre company member Omkar Das Manikpuri as well as Raghubir Yadav, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Malaika Shenoy along with a number of newcomers. Peepli Live, distributed by UTV Motion Pictures is scheduled for release on August 13, 2010.The Rural-based film ‘Peepli Live’ is a satirical comedy shows the real scene the village and farmers’ cause of suicide. But the soundtrack of the film will definitely bring the expected things to the listeners despite unknown actors and offbeat theme.

Plot:

Natha a poor farmer from Peepli village in the heart of rural India is about to lose his plot of land due to an unpaid government loan. A quick fix to the problem is the very same government’s program that aids the families of indebted farmers who have committed suicide. As a means of survival Farmer Natha can choose to die!!! His brother is happy to push him towards this unique ‘honor’ but Natha is reluctant. Local elections are around the corner and what might’ve been another unnoticed event turns into a ‘cause celebre’ with everyone wanting a piece of the action. Political bigwigs, high-ranking bureaucrats, local henchmen and the ever-zealous media descend upon sleepy Peepli to stake their claim. The question on everyone’s lips – “Will he or Won’t he?” As the mania escalates what will be the fate of Farmer Natha; nobody seems to care how he really feels?

Music:

The music composed by Nageen Tanvir, Indian Ocean and Ram Sampat, the album is full of rural scenes, rustic elements, and wonderful tone with unique lyrics.

‘Chola Maati Ke Ram’, a very simple soundtrack with the deep and soulful voice of Nageen Tanvir, is the song in which we will get the essence of the film.

Another song ‘Des Mera’ is outstanding and regional in spirit with the modern touches of bass guitar and vocal phrases.

The song ‘Mehngai Dayain’ has power to put you inside the movie. The song has laos the remix form in the film.

Next song ‘Zindagi Se Darte Ho’ is a modern in musical style. The 7-minute long track could be called a mini rock opera with essences of rock throughout the track. It must delight the rock fans.

All the soundtracks convey the original tone with original treatment of the rustic life and its problems. The future of the film ‘Peepli Live’ will be seen after its release on August 22. But the soundtracks will attract the audience who loves such kind of music.

Production:

Peepli Live was filmed on location in Madhya Pradesh and New Delhi. According to Khan, many of the actors are Adivasis from Madhya Pradesh.
