Reservation of Tatkal tickets under the new rules presented by the Indian railways happening at 10am on Tuesday. The railways has announced a slew of measures amid growing criticisms about misuse of the Tatkal structure. Under the reviewed scheme, travelers can reserve Tatkal tickets from 10am in its place of 8am. No official mediators, as well as those of IRCTC, will be acceptable to book Tatkal tickets from 10am to 12pm over the counter as well as on the internet.
While several regions will have separate stands for these permits, others will issue Tatkal tickets from the similar stands, they will offer only Tatkal tickets from 10am-10.30am. Processes such as fixing of CCTVs in main reservation centres, excepting booking clerks from carrying cellphones inside counters, show of information numbers as well as attacks by vigilance squads, have been taken, said a senior railway ministry official.
The revised scheme comes in the backdrop of an growing digit of criticisms from travelers about cornering of the loose of tickets by touts, who then retail them at a first-class. The railways will too expand the e-ticket management ability of its website over short-term and long-term measures. The server ability will be improved from 3.5 lakh reservations to around 5 lakh reservations per day in about four months, which will finally be increased to about 8 lakh reservations a day.
