Match Fixing Scandal – World Cup 2011

On 28^th March 2011, I wrote an article World Cup Controversy and after India Pakistan World Cup semi-final match, I came up with Was India Pakistan Semis Fixed??? People might be saying why I am taking out this topic again because of the following reasons:

While surfing I came across a post stating India Pakistan Match was fixed. There was conversation stated between 2 sides regarding that match. This story on match-fixing – Dirt in Cricket, a Heena Zuni Pandit-authored cover story for the latest issue of Sports Illustrated India – comes without the sort of shock value earlier exposes such as the one in Outlook over a decade ago or the subsequent one in Tehelka engendered.

Voice: Arre, us match ka patha chala aapko?

Sports Illustrated India: Kis match ka?

Voice: India-Pakistan ka. Humein ek message aaya tha, Bihar ke ek politician ka. Kaha, ‘Sir, yehi sahi time hai paisa lagane ka. Ab nahin lagayenge to kab lagayenge? Rs 200 crore pahuncha diya hai.’

SI India: Achcha, kaun sa politician tha?

Voice: Ek hai, Bihar mein.

The above conversation was, SI says, recorded on March 31, a day after the India-Pakistan semifinal at Mohali; the unnamed ‘Voice’ belongs to a politician from a national party who has a residence in Delhi and a scrapyard business in Bombay.

You can go through the whole article by Sports Illustrated. Not only this, some videos are their showing a Bookie Pradeep Agarwal in Team India Dressing room for some matches including the match they lost against South Africa in Nagpur. Ex IT Commissioner Mr. Vishwabandhu Gupta suggested in this video that India team is going to lose against Pakistan in the Semi Final. That didn’t happen but he gave away some clues that World Cup was fixed in some crucial moments.

Why not ICC getting this investigated??? All these videos are at the time of World Cup 2011. My question is the same, is everyone making money at the same time??? Sharad Pawar, head of ICC and BCCI for the world cup made everything possible at the same time. Well I guess all this is not mere coincidences. Someone has to investigate into this. All this news were kept low profiled during the world cup and still people don’t know all this happened. God save the game and punish the culprits.
