Samajwadi Party (SP) Leader Jaya Prada said many people would be in trouble if Amar Singh sings (opened his mouth), slamming “beneficiaries” who turned their back on the voluble leader in his time of crisis. Jaya Prada , whom Singh successfully fielded for Lok Sabha from Rampur in the teeth of opposition from local Samajwadi leader Azam Khan, has stayed loyal to her mentor after his exit from SP. She said it was a small service to the man who rescued her when she desperately pleaded for help in the 2009 polls.

Jaya said many people benefitted from Singh’s contribution to save the government but had deserted him. “I believe in judiciary but the common man is asking why is he in jail? He is not the beneficiary (of trust vote), there are others, she added “Singh had kept his silence despite being targeted by government and opposition. “If he opens his mouth, there will be trouble (for many) but he is very calm he keeps his word, that is his character.”
Jaya Prada had started his politic career with Telugu Desam Party by her former co-star N.T.Rama Rao in 1994. She later broke away from him and joined the Chandrababu Naidu faction of the party. She was nominated to the Rajya Sabha representing Andhra Pradesh in 1996.She left TDP to join Samajwadi Party and contested from Rampur parliamentary Constituency in UP during the last General election in 2004 and got elected. During her campaign for the Lok Sabha elections, she was issued a notice by the Election Commission for violating the code of conduct by distributing bindis to women in Rampur’s Swar locality. Jaya Prada was expelled from the party on February 2, 2010 on the charge of indulging in activities inimical to its political interests and damaging its image.
