In a rapid operation, Delhi Police Special Cell detained Rajasthan Royals cricketer S Sreesanth, Ankeet Chavan and Ajit Chandila on charges of spot-fixing. Seven bookies have been arrested as well. The first questioning has exposed that the parts of IPL games at Mohali and Mumbai were fixed. The arrests have reportedly been made on Wednesday night. They were arrested in a secret swoop at the Trident Hotel in Mumbai and will be brought to Delhi to be produced in court.
According to sources “A squad led by DCP Sanjeev Yadav was camping in Mumbai to perform this secret operation. They were acting on a tip-off shadowed by call interception of players and bookies.
The police squad had delayed to get correct evidence against the players and let go of two chances previous even though they had prima facie proof of spot-fixing. Lastly the detentions happened on late Wednesday night at hotel Trident in Mumbai.
