Apple introduced the iPhone 5, which comes with a larger four inch screen and the aluminium handset is taller and thinner than previous models. It is the sixth and most recent generation of the iPhone.
The iPhone 5 will be released on September 21. It will be available to pre-order from Friday.
The iPhone 5 is taller, leaner, lighter, shinier and packs in much more punch than ever. Apple confirmed it will also ditch the 30pin connector used to charge the phone or dock it.
The iPhone features an improved processor, dubbed theApple A6, which is claimed to achieve twice the performance of the A5. It has storage capacities of 16, 32 or 64 GB and has two color options.
It is also expected to have 4G and iOS 6 in what some are touting as the biggest electronics upgrade in consumer history.
iPhone 5 will hit the shelves in US, UK,Canada, Germany, France, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore on September 21. Apple again did not make any announcement about India launch plans.
Apple neglected to mention that the new iPhone 5 will come with a nanoSim (which is smaller than the micro-SIM). The smaller SIM card will be up to 40 percent smaller than previous designs, (12.3 millimeters x 8.8 millimeters) and allows for phones to be even thinner than before.
