Indian Shooter Gagan Narang Won Bronze Medal in Olympics 2012



Hey Indians, if you were earlier disappointed with the crashing out of ace Indian shooter Abhinav Bindra, then now you have a new reason to celebrate. Indian Shooter Gagan Narang has won a Bronze Medal for the 10m Air Rifle Event in Olympics 2012. With this victory, shooter Gagan Narang has bagged India its very first medal at the London Olympics 2012.

Narang shot 103.1 in a gripping ten-shot finals for an aggregate of 701.1 after scoring 598 in the qualifying round in which he stood third. Niccolo Campriani of Italy stoods second with 701.5 at the Royal Artillery Barracks. Romania’s Moldoveanu Alin George stood first with 702.1 & won the gold medal.

After winning the medal, the happy & excited Narang says,

“I guess I have a huge stone off my shoulders. Bronze is a medal, and this is an Olympic bronze medal, so it’s quite exciting.”

Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh congratulated shooter Gagan Narang on his winning bronze medal effort at the London Olympics.

In a statement Dr. Singh said,

“I join the nation in congratulating Shooter Gagan Narang on his winning the Olympic bronze medal in the 10 metre air rifle event. I wish Narang more success in the two other events he is participating in.”

The Govt. of Haryana announced a reward of Rs. 1,00,00,000 for shooter Narang for winning a bronze medal for the country. Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda announced the reward for Narang immediately after he won bronze in the shooting event in London Monday.

The chief minister said players from Haryana winning a gold medal in the Olympics would get Rs. 2.5 crore, silver medallists Rs.1.5 crore and those winning bronze Rs. 1 crore.
