ICC awards nominations 2012 – Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Virat Kohli are in race for One-day cricketer of the year

List of nominations for the International Cricket Council awards announced by the world governing body in Colombo on Thursday. South Africa’s Hashim Amla and Vernon Philander, Australia’s Michael Clarke and Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara are in the running for the ICC Cricketer of the Year award for 2011-12. All four have also been nominated for the Test cricketer of the year, while Sangakkara also features in the shortlist for the one-day and people’s awards. Winners will be announced at the awards night in Colombo on September 15.

Sri Lanka’s Dinesh Chandimal, Doug Bracewell of New Zealand, Sunil Narine of the West Indies and Australia’s James Pattinson were nominated for the emerging cricketer of the year award.

The awards recognise and honour the best international cricket players of the previous 12 months. The Awards has been institutionalized by International Cricket Council since 2004.
