The major accused in the Guwahati molestation case “Amar Jyoti Kalita” has been traced to a place near Kolkata. Asam Police have announced Rs one lakh cash prize for information on the location of main suspect Amar Jyoti Kalita.
The incident took place July 9 when a 17-year-old girl was molested by a crowd. It was flashed across numerous news channels and caused outrage.
12 people have been detained so far on the custody of being involved in the molestation. The special investigation squad of state police, entrusted with the case, has sent two-three teams outside Assam to trace Kalita.
A TV reporter “Gaurav Jyoti Neog”, whose network first Broadcast the news about the mass molestation of a Teen Girl here, was detained on Friday evening for his alleged involvement in the crime that sent shock waves over the nation. The TV channel, where Neog worked, is run by the wife of a cabinet minister of Assam.
Gaurav Jyoti Neog was picked up by a city police team from his rented house located in the Beltola survey area. He had shot the video of the July 9 molestation incident here for over 40 minutes.
