With the biggest ever acquisition deal, Google has announced that it will buy Motorola Mobile phone business for $12.5bn, to allow it to expand in the Smartphone market.

This acquisition would turn Google into a full-fledged cell phone manufacturer, in direct competition with Apple, especially in the Smartphone section where it is Apple’s dominance.

Google announced on Monday that it will acquire Motorola Mobility Holding for $40 a share in cash, or $12.5 billion.

Beside Apple, a Motorola tie-up may also irk other phone manufacturers, like Samsung and HTC, which will now be competing directly with Google.
