Right now the relationship between Lalit Modi and Ministry of Foreign Affairs appears to touch new lows every new day. However, there was a time when Modi was so sure about his relationship with Ministry of Foreign Affairs that he made a request to ministry to deny visa extension to Gabriella Demetriades, one of the contestants of Miss IPL Bollywood. Indian Express reported that the E-mails between Modi and the Minister’s office in January show that the model’s visa was due to expire in February 2010 and Modi wanted Tharoor’s office to make sure that her request for the visa’s renewal be rejected.
However, the ministry acted with its own prudence without paying any heed to unsolicited advice of Lalit modi and extended the visa of Gabriella. Although, when asked by the Indian Express correespondent why did he want to stall the visa of South African model he declined to comment over it. Right now there are many stories going on over this issue and most of them insinuate that there was something brewing between the model and IPL Commissioner Modi.
