An Israeli embassy car in Delhi caught fire in a suspected bomb attack on Monday injuring three people, including possibly the wife of a diplomat.
The Toyota Innova SUV car, bearing number 109-CD-35, went up in flames after it exploded near a petrol pump, metres away from 7 Race Course Road – PM’s residence. Another car in the vicinity was also damaged. The woman to be injured in the blast is was identified as Tal Yehoshua, the wife of Israel’s defence attache.
The blast occurred at 3.16 pm at a busy traffic intersection on Aurangazeb Road just about 500 meters away from the Prime Minister’s residence. The incident occurred when two young men on a motorcycle, who were spotted near the car just before it caught fire. Some eyewitnesses claimed that the men threw something at the Innova car following which there was a minor explosion.
The injured have been taken to the RML hospital. However, one injured Israeli embassy employee has been admitted in AIIMS.
