Deepika to be honoured with Smita Patil Memorial Award

Bollywood actress and former model Deepika Padukone will be honoured with the biennial Smita Patil Memorial Award instituted by Priyadarshni Academy for her contribution to the film industry. The Awards are a dime a dozen today, however there are a rare that stand out similar for instance the Smita Patil Award for brilliance in bollywood cinema.

The award will be presented to her at the 28th anniversary global awards function of the Priyadarshni Academy on September 18.

The awards will be presented by the Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Dilip Walse-Patil and state Food and Civil Supplies Minister Anil Deshmukh.

Deepika made her Hindi film debut with Farah Khan’s blockbuster Om Shanti Om opposite Shahrukh Khan, for which she earned the Filmfare Best Female Debut Award. Padukone is also the ambassador of prominent brands such as Tissot, Sony Cybershot,Yamaha, Nescafe and Kingfisher Airlines.
