CBI to make various significant arrests in Tatra case soon



The CBI (Central Bureau Of Investigation) will soon make various ‘significant arrests’ in linking with the inquiry into alleged irregularities in the procurement of Tatra all-terrain trucks to the Indian Army as the agency has found several ‘ critical proof’.

A CBI Officer said, “ We have proof against various people linked with the Tatra deal and they would be detained soon,. Officers, however, declined to say whether Vectra Group chairman Ravi Rishi and BEML chief V R S Natarajan would be detained.

CBI executives have met “crucial”proof which direct alleged connection of various senior officers of the public sector undertaking, CBI will soon call Natarajan, Rishi and former senior officials of BEML for questioning again, sources said.

CBI had inspected several executives of the defence ministry also to collect proof in the case. Sources said after another round of questioning, CBI may make “significant” arrests within 10 days.

Natarajan and Rishi have previously been quizzed by the CBI in link with the incident. Both have negated accusations of any wrongdoing.

According to Sources, the trucks, which are currently assembled by BEML and delivered to the Army, have “not done well in higher altitudes and despite red flags raised by Army numerous times, the PSU continued delivering older technology trucks”. CBI sources said DRDO too got vehicles from Tatra for its rocket systems which did much better than those obtained by the Army through BEML.
