32 killed and 20 injured as tourist bus from Hyderabad to Shirdi falls off bridge



More than 32 people were killed and 20 pilgrims injured, a few of them seriously, as their bus fell off a overpass in Osmanabad district of Maharashtra on Saturday June 16,2012. The injured have been shifted to Solapur civil hospital. Officials fear that dead toll may go higher.

According to officials, the private bus carrying devotees from Hyderabad were returning after a pilgrimage to Shirdi Saibaba Temple in Ahmednagar district, when the mishap occurred at 2:40 a.m.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy has spoken grief over the happening and has directed Chief Secretary Pankaj Dwivedi to help those injured.

A squad of medical and management official from Andhra Pradesh has left for the mark to help the injured and to coordinate with the Maharashtra State officials, official, Information and Public Relations R. V. Chandravadan said. “We require to obtain additional details concerning the incident and figure of casualties,”.

In the meantime, nervous family members of the dead rushed to the office of the travel agency which was operating the bus at Lakadi-ka-Pul here to discover information of their relatives.
