The 15th September is remembered and celebrated as Engineers’ Day all across India. Engineers day is celebrated on birthday of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvarayya who is a great Indian engineer and statesman.

Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvarayya was an Indian Engineer and his full name was Bharat Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya. Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya was born on 15th September 1860 in Mysore. He did his schooling in Bangalore and BA from the Madras University. He later did Civil Engineering at the College of Engineering, Pune.

Visvesvarayya also played a great role in developing technologies in India. Sir Visvesvarayya constructed project of Krishna Raja Sagara on the Kaveri River near Mysore. He is also known as “Father of modern Mysore state”. He is a recipient of the Indian republic’s highest honor, the Bharat Ratna, in 1955.
