One Person died and around 90 were injured as labour trouble erupted at Maruti Suzuki’s plant in Manesar, 15km from Gurago. Making at the plant had to be clogged after labors went on a rampage and set fire to the company’s office.
According to sources, trouble instigated around noon after the administration suspended a employee following a fight with a senior manager at the plant.
Labors alleged that the organization approved casteist comments which provoked the employee to slap the manager.
A crowd of about 3,000 persons met on gate number 2 of the plant and set fire to an office around 6.30pm after the second shift. Around 25 fire engines were rushed from Gurgaon to the factory as Manesar, said Gurgaon DCP (East) Maheshwar Dayal.
The company confirmed the growth. “Labors at the Manesar plant turned fierce, aggressive and hurting managers and leaders in the office premises. At least 40 executives and managers are injured, and have been swift to hospital. The attackers too set fire to property and damaged services,” Maruti said in a statement.
The new battle is probable to break any efforts of settlement among the new labour union and the Maruti organization to work out harmonious relations and change towards increasing manufacture. Sources said that the state at the factory premises is presently “grim”, though the Maruti management as well as the Haryana government are trying to work out a fast reconciliation to the matter.
